On
NW-3, capital dredging work in Kochi-Allapuzha sector has been completed and
depth 2 mtr has been provided in about 100 km length of the waterway between
Kochi-Allapuzha and Udyogmandal and Champakara Canal. Capital dredging in
the remaining part i.e. Allapuzha-Kollam and Kochi-Kottapuram is in progress.
A scheme for construction of terminals at 11 locations through CPWD is under
progress. A scheme for provision of night navigational aids on NW-3 has also
been approved and necessary action is being taken to implement the same.
Cargo Movement
The cargo moved in this waterway during the year 2003-04 was 1362149 M.T.
