INVITATION FOR PRIVATE / PUBLIC SECTOR PARTICIPATION AND INVESTMENT IN INLAND WATER TRANSPORT SECTOR AS JOINT VENTURE /BOT PROJECTS
- With a view to give a boost to development of IWT sector and to attract private / public sector investment, the Government has approved IWT Policy wherein several policy initiatives and fiscal incentives have been included.
- Specific proposals are invited from private sector and the public sector undertakings for participation in IWT sector on Joint Venture/ BOT basis on 3 National Waterways i.e. NW-1, the Ganga from Haldia to Allahabad, NW-2, the Brahmaputra from Dhubri to Sadiya and NW-3, the West Coast Canal from Kottapuram to Kollam along with the Udyogmandal and Champakara Canals.
- The areas of participation through Joint Venture/ BOT basis can be of IWT terminals, mechanized cargo handling systems; fairway development and maintenance, development of night navigation facility, vessel construction and operation or any other IWT related infrastructure development.
- IWAI has developed a suggested proforma for detailed project proposal by private/ public sector agency for investment in IWT Sector as joint venture/ BOT project. Copy of this proforma can be collected from the office of the undersigned. This proforma as well as IWT Policy can also be down loaded from IWAI website mentioned above. All the interested agencies are, therefore, requested to send their proposals to the undersigned at an early date.
